Apple Intelligence - Writing tools
The writing tools introduced at WWDC24 and one of the first functions delivered by the Apple Intelligence component are awesome!
We’ll dive deep into the nitty-gritty of Writing Tools, exploring their features and giving it a thorough evaluation after months of using it.
Writing Tools includes these features:
Rewrite text
Summarize
The Rewrite text feature lets you edit text using Apple Intelligence language models that work wonders! You can choose from three basic styles: Friendly, Professional, and Concise. Just highlight the text and pick the style you like.
Another cool feature is that you can work with the text as a visual. Just highlight the text and make any changes you want using four options: Summary, Key points, List, and Table.
I also think Proofread is a really useful function. It analyzes the text and edits it into the correct form, or suggests changes in the word order.
Finally, we have the Rewrite function. If you’re not happy with the result, you can use this to change the text in a different way.
The summarize feature is one of my absolute favorites! It’s not just for regular text, but also for Notifications and Mail. It shows you the most important stuff, saving you time. And if you’re reading an article and want to get the gist of it, Writing tools can summarize it for you too.
As a European user, I’m not able to use Apple Intelligence since it’s not supported on this continent. This means some features are a bit tricky for me to use. But hey, if you’re an English speaker and use English, then Writing Tools are perfect for you! They can really help you out when working with text.
In the latest version 18.2, they’ve added ChatGPT support to Writing Tools. That’s a big step up, and it really makes these tools even more powerful. But we’ll save that for another time.
